The Dudley Children's Play Initiative - Just Enjoy
More children: More opportunities: More choice: More control: More often.

The Dudley children's play initiative aims to deliver up to one million new play hours for up to ten thousand children and young people across Dudley over the next three years. The portfolio will contribute towards making a long-term positive change for children's play and help improve play outcomes for a large number of children in Dudley.

The programme, subtitled Just Enjoy, will provide a summer holiday play programme for profoundly disabled young people, a range of play activities for other disabled children and a new play ranger programme in public parks across the borough. The programme will also establish twenty new local play partnerships and fund three new multiuse games areas in Brierley Hill, Netherton and Wollescote, a children's play area in Wordsley and Netherton and a new skate park in North Dudley.

The programme started on 29th July 2007 and involves fourteen organisations including the Brierley Hill Youth Forum, the Kids Orchard organisation in Lye, the Rollercoasters disability charity and the Bowling Green Road Tenants and Residents Association in Netherton.

The programme has been led by the Dudley Children and Young People's Partnership and the portfolio has been prioritised by a panel of children, young people and community representatives.

The portfolio is managed by the Directorate of Children's Services working closely with the new Dudley Play Partnership, set up to be the new 'voice for children's play' and help embed high quality children's play opportunities across the borough.
